Stoneware webNetwork 5e

Secure Personal Desktop access without stressing out IT.

With Stoneware's Personal Desktop, users can securely access their corporate workstation from anywhere without stressing out IT.

Personal Desktop

webNetwork's Peronsal Desktop allows employees to access their corporate desktop from anywhere without compromising security or creating large management nightmares. With Personal Desktop organizations can securely publish a user's desktop so an employee has access to his applications, files, and email from anywhere. Most importantly, Personal Desktop integrates seamlessly into the corporate network environment. Leveraging Microsoft's Active Directory or Novell's eDirectory, IT managers can ensure that users cannot freely publish their own desktops without proper access control assignments in place.

Features

Personal Desktop provides employees with secure remote access to their corporate desktop from anywhere. Stoneware's Personal Desktop provides the following features:

  • Access applications, files, and email from anywhere there is a browser and Internet connection
  • Remote Desktop Registration
  • Dynamic DNS integration and identification
  • Role-based Access Control
  • Pipeline access to eliminate firewall configuration changes

Benefits

Personal Desktop benefits organizations of any size. Personal Desktop can solve a wide variety of business problems for both large and small businesses. Below is a list of benefits that can be realized when Personal Desktop is implemented in a corporate environment:

  • Remote desktop access for the mobile user who is at home or "on the road"
  • Remote management access for corporate IT workers without VPN client deployment
  • Small Business alternative to publishing Terminal
  • Server or Citrix applications
  • Secure vendor access to remotely managed servers and workstations

Security

Stoneware understands that the limiting factor to remote desktop access is security and access control. Stoneware's two-tier architecture delivers remote desktop access that meets the requirements of the harshest security director. The webNetwork Server/Relay configuration (Diagram 1a) allows the webNetwork Relay to communicate with the remote workstation via the webNetwork Server. This design limits communications between the security device and the local workstation therefore eliminating the need for creating "holes" in the internal firewall. In addition, Personal Desktop's integrated network management allows organizations to control which users and groups can gain access to their corporate desktops. With security concerns taken care of, organizations are free to start solving real business problems.

  • Control access to corporate desktops through network user/group management and organizational role assignments
  • Securely access internal desktops without creating "holes" in the internal firewall for each desktop
  • Encrypts all communications over SSL
  • Ensure users only access their workstation
